Meet Kayla Barrett
Light bulbs are one of Kayla’s favorite things. More specifically, light bulbs coming on in people’s heads. Kayla is a thinker and practitioner in today’s marketplace. She dwells on ways to help others move to the next level in their professional and personal development. Her industry experience spans 18+ years in both the corporate sector and non-profit market where she has worn hats such as Director of Organizational Strategy, Director of Human Resources and Director of Staff Development. Kayla’s experience allows her to walk alongside your organization to identify your people development needs then helps you discover a hands-on approach that advances your organization’s vision. She holds a B.S. and M.S. in Organizational Communication from Murray State University in Kentucky.
She is president of Organization Impact, LLC and is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, American Society of Training and Development, Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the National Association of Professional Women, an education partner with TNAHSA, Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce, and Executive Advisory Board of the Murray State University LinkedIn Association.
Special recognition includes 2010 Professional Woman of the Year with the National Association of Professional Women; inclusion in the 2010 edition of International Who’s Who of Professional Business Women; and 2010 Continental Who’s Who World Class Alliance.
Industry Experience
Kayla has been involved with human resources, training and development since 1991. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Organizational Communication and Master of Science degree in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in training and development from Murray State University. Her previous leadership roles include Director, Human Resources and Staff Development for Two Rivers Baptist Church. In this capacity, Ms. Barrett spearheaded staff education and communication strategies with its volunteer base. During her ten year span at Gaylord Entertainment Company, Kayla filled many roles including Corporate Human Resources Manager, IT Training Manager and Director of Organizational Strategy. She was instrumental in the opening of the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center and acted as an internal consultant to the Gaylord Hotels division. Her background also extends to specific training and development roles including Technical Instructor for ExecuTrain, Inc. and Sales Trainer for Castner Knott Stores, a 13-store retail chain.
Ms. Barrett’s approach to talent management is one that encourages a collaborative partnership among an organization’s leaders. It involves the critical steps of casting a vision, aligning talent with tasks, and creating a clear definition of success. She challenges people to explore their potential. Whether in the classroom or alongside business leaders, Kayla’s passion for helping others grow and learn is evident to everyone she meets.
